Cemson Logistics: Branding
& Website for a UK Family-
Run Haulage Firm
In this case study
All in one logistics solution
A UK family-run haulage firm. Reliable, time-critical, and compliant freight — van to 13.6m artic.
Haulage isn’t a category where visitors forgive uncertainty. When a dispatch manager at 2am needs a vehicle, or a chemicals supplier needs ADR cover before a Monday morning deadline, the website in front of them has to answer three questions in a glance: can you move it, when, and how do I get a quote. Cemson Logistics came to Digiflav with a growing family-run haulage firm out of Leighton Buzzard, a widening service list, and a website that was slowing the business down instead of feeding it.
This case study walks through how we rebranded Cemson Logistics and built the website — the audiences we had to serve, the design system we chose, and the quote-flow that’s doing the heavy lifting since launch.
About the Client
Cemson Logistics is a UK road transport and logistics company based at Hollingdon Depot, Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire. The business started during the 2019 COVID-19 pandemic and has grown into a dependable supply-chain partner for businesses that need freight handled with care — especially the time-critical, hazardous, and event work that most generalist hauliers won’t take on.
Their service lineup spans eight offers:
General Haulage
Palletised and loose freight across the UK — van, 7.5T through 13.6m artic.
Same-Day Delivery
Dispatched within hours — book in, picked up, delivered the same working day.
Time-Sensitive
Hard deadlines, chain-of-custody required — moved on-time, every time.
Night Delivery
Overnight runs for retail, perishables, and medical — ready at open.
Event Transport
Festivals, exhibitions, productions — on-site logistics with crew-ready timing.
ADR Hazardous
Fully-qualified ADR for chemicals, flammables, and regulated goods.
Contract Logistics
Planning, routing, warehousing, and distribution bundled under one SLA.
Warehousing
Short- and long-term storage with full inventory management.
Cemson is an RHA (Road Haulage Association) member and ADR-qualified. Testimonials on the current site come from four peer transport firms — Quick Shift UK, Truck-king Transport, Deadline Despatch, and ESB Transport — a strong signal that they’re the firm other hauliers call when they’re stretched.

The Challenge
Before this engagement, Cemson had the fleet, the compliance, and the referrals — but no digital surface that converted the inbound traffic. Dispatch managers were still calling and emailing to request quotes, and the site itself was reading like a template haulage brochure rather than the family-run operator Cemson actually is.
The brief
Build a brand and website that trades on dependability, puts ADR and time-critical capability on the first scroll, and lets a dispatch manager request a quote in under two minutes — day or night.
Specifically, the problems we had to solve were:
- Generic haulage template. The old site looked like every other RHA member’s — stock trucks, blue gradients, interchangeable copy. Nothing said “family-run and dependable.”
- Hidden specialisms. ADR and event transport are high-margin, high-trust work. They were buried in a flat services menu with no visual weight.
- Clunky quote request. The existing enquiry form asked too much, too early. Dispatch managers abandoned it halfway and reverted to calling.
- No proof surface. Four strong peer testimonials existed, but they weren’t being used as the trust engine they could be.
- Mobile-last layout. Most inbound quote requests happen on mobile, often from the cab or the yard. The site wasn’t built for that reality.
Our Approach
We structured the engagement as a 10-week sprint across four phases. Each phase ended with a signed-off deliverable so Cemson could keep dispatching while we built.
Phase
What We Did
Deliverable
01. Discover
Founder sessions, ride-along with the dispatch desk, audit of competitor haulage sites across the Midlands and Home Counties, and a review of the four peer testimonials for voice patterns.
Discovery doc + positioning map
02. Identify
Logo system, wordmark, palette, typography, iconography, livery direction for the fleet, voice guidelines, printed collateral tokens.
Brand identity system
03. Design
High-fidelity Figma for home, services index, eight service pages, About, FAQs, Blog, and a 3-step quote form — mobile-first.
12+ finalized page designs
04. Deploy
Custom WordPress build with Elementor Pro, 3-step quote wizard, map integration, QA across mobile and tablet, speed pass, CMS training.
Live site + handoff documentation
We work this way because it keeps the project honest. If something slips, we know exactly which phase it slipped in — and clients always know what’s being signed off before the next phase starts.
Brand Identity System
Haulage brands fall into two tired visual camps — macho red/black masculine, or faded corporate blue. We wanted neither. Cemson is a family-run operator with a serious compliance stack. The identity had to read as trusted, modern, and quietly confident.
Logo & Wordmark
We built a wordmark with a clean geometric sans and a stacked monogram (“CL”) that reads at both cab-door scale and favicon scale. The system includes a horizontal logo for the website header, a stacked mark for printed collateral and PO forms, and the monogram for livery badging and uniform embroidery.
Color Palette
We built on a disciplined three-color system: deep black for authority, clean white for clarity, and signal green that reads as go / dispatched / confirmed — borrowed from the status vocabulary dispatch managers already live inside.
The Cemson brand board — logo, wordmark, livery, and operational applications
Typography
We paired a geometric sans (Poppins) for display and headlines with a clean, highly legible humanist sans (Inter) for body copy and quote-form UI. The pairing keeps the brand modern on the home page and crisp on service-detail pages where dispatch managers are scanning for one specific capability.
Fleet & Livery Direction
We art-directed the fleet livery to match — black cab panel, white trailer, signal-green accent stripe that doubles as a legibility anchor at motorway distance. The same green appears on the dispatcher’s uniform patch and the PO documentation. One system from the home page to the yard gate.
Website Design & UX
We designed the home page to answer three questions in order — what can you move, can you handle my specific job, and how do I get a quote — then route each visitor to the right next page from there.
Vehicle Range
One of the first upgrades we made was making the vehicle range visually tangible. Dispatch managers want to know what size truck they’re getting before anything else. We built a black-card lineup for the fleet, mirrored directly into step 2 of the quote wizard so visitors never have to guess.
Van
Up to 1,000kg · same-day capable · city-friendly.
7.5T
Palletised freight, local and regional distribution.
18T
Multi-pallet, event-ready, tail-lift options.
26T
Long-haul capability, bulk goods, nationwide.
13.6m Artic
Full curtain-sider for 26 pallets, UK-wide.

Key UX Decisions
- Three-step quote wizard. We rebuilt the quote form from scratch — step 1: service + collection / delivery, step 2: vehicle type + weight, step 3: name + phone + email. Progressive disclosure keeps the drop-off low.
- ADR and specialisms surfaced early. ADR, event, time-critical, and night-delivery each got dedicated service pages with their own hero and compliance proof. These are high-margin lanes — they deserve the real estate.
- Peer testimonials as the trust engine. Four peer-firm testimonials (Quick Shift UK, Truck-king, Deadline Despatch, ESB Transport) got their own section with firm logos. “Other hauliers call Cemson” is the strongest signal they have.
- RHA + ADR trust band. Membership and qualification marks pulled above the fold on every service page. Compliance is Cemson’s moat; the site should treat it that way.
- Mobile-first. Over 65% of quote starts come from mobile. Every section was designed in a 390-pixel frame first, including the quote wizard — thumb-friendly, no pinch-zoom.
- Dispatch-hours and 24/7 cover made obvious. Mon-Fri 08:00-18:00 operating hours on the site, with a visible out-of-hours contact for same-day and time-critical work.

Technology & Development
We built the site on a WordPress + Elementor Pro foundation, with a custom child theme hand-coded for performance. The whole site ships under 150KB of CSS and loads in under 1.8 seconds on 4G — a non-negotiable for mobile-first quote requests.
Stack
- Front-end: WordPress with a custom Elementor Pro child theme, modern vanilla JavaScript, and a design-token-driven CSS layer.
- Quote wizard: Three-step custom form with conditional routing by service type, submission into Cemson’s dispatch inbox with instant acknowledgement to the enquirer.
- Map: Google Maps embed on the contact page centered on Hollingdon Depot, Leighton Buzzard.
- Blog: Native WordPress blog with category filtering (General Haulage, ADR, Event, Industry News) — Hassan Bin Waheed and future authors can publish without touching code.
- Analytics: GA4, Microsoft Clarity for behavior insights, and consent-mode-compliant cookie banner for UK GDPR.
- Performance: Image lazy-loading, critical CSS inlined, no third-party fonts on the critical path, targeting a 90+ Lighthouse score across the board.
Everything is modular. When Cemson adds a new service lane (temperature-controlled, international, rail), a new industry blog post, or a new depot, the system scales without a redesign.
Digiflav built the site I’d been trying to describe for two years. The quote form just works, the brand finally matches the fleet, and our dispatch desk is dealing with better-qualified leads from day one.
Results & Impact
We measure case studies on both the quantitative wins (what the numbers show) and the qualitative ones (what the client’s day-to-day changed). Here’s where the project landed on both.
Quantitative
Lighthouse score
Across performance, accessibility, best practices, and SEO on all core pages.
Page load
Average load on 4G across the top-ten pages, measured post-launch.
Quote starts
Increase in quote-wizard starts compared to the previous enquiry form in the first 60 days.
Pages shipped
Home, services index, eight service pages, About, FAQs, Contact, and Blog.
Qualitative
- Dispatch inbox is now receiving fully-qualified quote requests — service, vehicle, weight, timing — not back-and-forth emails.
- ADR and event enquiries have grown as a share of the mix because those lanes finally have the visual weight they deserve.
- Cemson’s team can publish new service lanes and blog posts without touching code.
- The brand feels consistent from the website to the trailer side to the invoice at the bottom of the chain.

Key Takeaways
For agencies or founders looking at a similar project — a service firm whose website is dragging behind the operation — the three lessons we’d pass on from this engagement are these:
- In haulage, dependability is a design decision. A disciplined palette, confident typography, and a quote-form that actually respects the dispatch manager’s time do more for conversion than any amount of “we’re reliable” copy.
- Specialisms deserve their own page. ADR and event work are the high-margin lanes. We gave each its own route, its own hero, and its own compliance proof — not a line in a flat services list.
- Peer testimonials are the strongest proof you own. When other hauliers call you, show it. We built the Cemson site around that signal, not around generic “customer satisfaction.”
If you’re sitting in a similar spot — a trade or operational business whose brand doesn’t match the quality of the work — this is the kind of engagement we specialize in. One conversation is all it takes to see if it’s a fit.
